Welcome to the latest monthly Business e-newsletter.

In this edition we encourage you to complete a short business survey that is part of Council's Looking Out for Moyne campaign to support local businesses. We also bring you the latest updates on Council budget support initiatives, regional and State wide support opportunities, business advice and more.

We want this newsletter to be valuable to you so please share your feedback and suggestions to help us improve.

Council is developing a campaign to encourage residents to support local Moyne businesses as part of its business recovery program and in line with its Economic Development Strategy.

To get a better understanding of your business needs and for the campaign to be successful, we kindly request your input into this short business survey. It contains just a few questions and should take no more than five minutes of your time.  For anonymity, business details are not required and results will be aggregated. If you could complete the survey by 5pm Wednesday, 8 July, 2020 it would be greatly appreciated.

If you would like to chat more about the campaign please contact Jennifer Thomas on 03 5568 0573.
From 9.30am  to 11.30am on Thursday, 9th July, Council's Economic Development Advisory Committee members will be visiting the main streets of Mortlake, Koroit and Port Fairy to hear from you and your staff about how you are trading during COVID-19, to listen to ideas you have that can be supported by the Committee and the Shire.
The Committee are keen to listen, to work collaboratively and to assist further in developing business support measures.
Council is committed to supporting Moyne ratepayers impacted by the current crisis through the following COVID-19 hardship measures as part of its 2020/21 budget:
  • Applying a rate freeze rather than applying the 2% rate cap - a saving of $420,000 to ratepayers.
  • No interest  to Fees and Charges for 2020/21 financial year - a saving of around $100,000 for residents.
  • Rent waiver for at three months for commercial leases.
  • Prioritising works that engage local trades - around $500,000 worth of building and maintenance works.
  • Ratepayers experiencing financial stress to contact Council and discuss payment arrangements.
