Premier Daniel Andrews has announced that all Council's in metropolitan Melbourne have been ordered back into Stage 3 coronavirus lockdown for 6 weeks from 11:59pm on Wednesday 8 July 2020.

This means there will only be 4 reasons to leave home:
  • Shopping for food and supplies
  • Medical care and caregiving
  • Exercise and recreation
  • Study and work – if you can’t do it from home
Stay up to date:
2020 has been difficult and the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) recognises that businesses have experienced significant challenges.

To help make tax time easier, the ATO has a range of different approaches to support you, particularly where new circumstances mean that people are receiving a different type of income or able to claim new deductions.

This past year has been unprecedented, with bushfires, drought and COVID-19 making things more difficult for many people in small businesses. The ATO wants to help businesses get back on their feet and have created a tax time toolkit. The toolkit includes a helpful directory of links to help small businesses find information, tools, calculators and services to help them at tax time and throughout the year.

While tax and super may not be on the top of your mind during these times, the ATO want to make it as easy as possible for you and are there to help and support you. There are some things, like reporting JobKeeper and the cash flow boost, that will be new this year. Others, like claiming motor vehicle expenses, are not new but you might need a reminder of what to do.

That’s why the ATO put together these 13 tips for getting ready for tax time in 2020.
